Artist's statement
Pattern and repetition are an integral part of my work because I investigate the use of repetition and struc¬ture and the significance of pattern in ethnic textiles. I study traditional textile processes such as dyeing, stamping, and fiber construction, which connects me to people in other cultures who work using the same techniques. I use these language elements to communicate and learn about symbolic meanings and beliefs. My goal is to bring together ethnic traditions and contemporary painting and sculpture.
